2009 Acura MDX Interior

The interior of 2009 Acura MDX displays great interior design for luxury and comfort. Seven people can sit comfortable in the three rows. The third row is best place for children to sit. Adults sitting in the third row may not feel that much comfortable.

Interior of 2009 Acura MDX Features luxury and hi-tech technology. Few people complain about the placement of controls and the dashboard. But different people have different opinions.

The 2009 Acura MDX also accommodates one of the best in-dash navigation units, a system with voice recognition, and a rearview camera .

There is ample space for cargo in the 2009 Acura MDX. This space can be increased by folding down the third row.

What Others say about 2009 Acura MDX Interior:

"The interior is attractively designed and solidly constructed." - Edmunds

"The MDX interior has been updated, as needed, with a more modern design that may or may not stand the test of time. The bizarre steering wheel looks like a weapon, to be thrown...perhaps at a marauding Visigoth, who, with any luck, won't be shielding himself with an MDX grille." - Cars.com

"Inside you have the fit, finish and feel of a quality vehicle." - MarketWatch

"On the inside of the MDX, things are quiet and calm, with little noise from the outside world intruding into the cabin. The interior has a clean, almost cold look with lots of metallic surfaces. It leans a bit toward the masculine side of things." - Mother Proof

"The plush leather front buckets -- and the second row as well -- have enveloping shapes with plenty of side support." - Car and Driver

"The leather quality, armrests, firmness, and slight reclining ability were admired by all, and the two-way heaters on all outboard seats were a winter windfall." - Automotive.com

"The MDX is one of the more spacious three-row midsize luxury crossover SUVs on the market. An adult could fit in the third row for a short journey, although the rearmost seats are better suited for kids." - Edmunds

"Outboard 2nd-row seat sections are shaped like comfortable buckets and afford fine head and leg room unless the front seats are far back. The middle position is for kids, as is the cramped 3rd row." - Consumer Guide

"We're not too crazy about the center stack. It's way too busy. It houses 49 switches and buttons -- 49! -- all in one place, controlling things such as the radio and heating/ventilation. It's tough to decipher where everything is." - AutoWeek

"Switch it from 7-seater to 5-seater and cargo capacity leaps from 15 to 42.9 cubic feet; folding down the middle row brings that to 83.5." - Automotive.com

"With the third row seats up, cargo space is virtually nonexistent." - CNET

"Split 2nd-row seatbacks fold easily. Split 3rd-row seats fold forward from rear of vehicle, and all but shorter folks can raise them from there. With all seats folded, the cargo floor is nearly flat, and Acura says it can hold 4-ft-wide panels." - Consumer Guide

"A total of 83.5 cubic feet of cargo space is available with the second and third rows folded, which is also above average for a midsize luxury crossover." - Edmunds

"The MDX's cabin is a high-tech parent's dream. Even the base model has its fair share of electronic toys, and the Technology and Sport Packages add even more goodies. The Panasonic/ELS surround-sound system is quite simply one of the best in the business, as is the navigation system. With all these items to control, however, the MDX's dash is cluttered with buttons. It can be overwhelming at first, but once you know where everything is, it becomes intuitive." - Edmunds

"Inside, the MDX boasts seven-passenger seating, tri-zone climate control, a 10-way power driver's seat, eight-way power passenger seat, and an eight-speaker, 253-watt audio system with an in-dash six-disc CD-changer with WMA and MP3 capability, auxiliary input jack, and XM radio." -Truck Trend

"The instruments are easy to read. The audio and climate controls are easy to reach, but the vast array of similarly sized and shaped controls is confusing." - Consumer Guide

2009 Acura MDX Changes

The 2009 Acura MDX offers least changes as compared to its previous model. As its predecessors, the Acura MDX 2009 offers V6 power, 7 seater, and Acura's exclusive Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. Stylish and detailed design and engineering, comprehensive safety equipment and use of advanced technologies are special features of this luxury SUV.

Counting the changes in 2009 Acura MDX, it offers minimal changes. The remote-operated power tailgate was previously available only with the Entertainment Package. It is now included in the Technology and Sport packages too. The MDX is one of the few luxury SUVs in its class to achieve top safety ratings in both NHTSA and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The 2009 MDX provides excellent safety features including the application of Acura's Advanced Compatibility Engineering.

As before, the 2009 MDX is powered by a 3.7L V-6 with 300 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque on tap, mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The combination nets the MDX a fuel-economy rating of 15/20 mpg city/highway -- not exactly class-leading. The MDX is equipped with Acura's high-tech SH-AWD system, which is capable of sending as much as 100% of the total power to just one wheel. The MDX's handling prowess is due in large part to what Acura calls a "Nurburgring-tuned" four-wheel independent suspension with MacPherson struts up front and a multilink rear setup. Stopping power comes from 13-in. vented discs front and 13.2-in. solid discs rear sitting behind 18-in. wheels with four-wheel ABS and Brake Assist, an active safety system designed to apply full brake pressure more quickly in rapid braking situations.

There are 3 optional packages available on the MDX: Technology, Entertainment and Sport.

Technology Package: This package features a breath-taking 410-watt, 10-speaker Acura/ELS Surround Premium Sound System with 6-disc CD/DVD-Audio changer, DTS changer, AM/FM tuner, XM Satellite Radio and AUX jack connectivity. The advanced Acura/ ELS system delivers 6 discreet audio channels instead of the usual 2 channels, when playing DVD-Audio discs. The Technology Package also includes the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition and AcuraLink real-time traffic to display up-to-the-minute traffic information including freeway flow, accident, construction and weather related incidents in 77 major metropolitan areas-an increase of one new market (Dayton, Ohio) for 2009. Additionally, an 8-inch navigation screen shows a behind-the-vehicle image from a rearview camera when the transmission is placed in Reverse and a power-operated rear tailgate is now included. The Technology Package also offers AcuraLink satellite communication system for 2-way communication between Acura and the MDX. The Technology Package also includes a GPS-linked, solar-sensing Tri-Zone climate control system that automatically adjusts the temperature and fan speed according to the position of the sun.

Sport Package: This package includes all of the upgrades of the Technology Package. Additionally there is an Active Damper System that offers both Sport and Comfort settings to handle varying road conditions, an exclusive alloy wheel design and auto-leveling HID front headlights. The interior has luxurious perforated Milano premium leather seating surfaces and unique textured metallic accents on radio, cupholder and shifter trims are also included.

Entertainment Package: This package offers enhanced passenger comfort and convenience. Has a 9-inch flip-down Thin Film Transistor (TFT) color screen mounted in an overhead console to provide on-the-road entertainment for the second and third row passengers. The audio signal plays in Dolby Digital surround sound through speakers, two wireless Personal Surround headphones and three audio jacks. This package also includes a 110-volt AC power outlet within the center console along with second-row heated seats for outboard occupants.

New 2009 Acura MDX Review Test Drive

"The 2009 Acura MDX might not drive just like a sport sedan, but this seven-passenger luxury SUV comes very close." -- Edmunds

"This excellent SUV has contemporary styling and thoughtful features. MDX is a highly desirable blend of luxury, performance, and convenience. Highlights of this pick include a strong and surefooted powertrain, good 1st- and 2nd-row seat comfort, and urbane cabin appointments." -- Consumer Guide

“So while the MDX is by all accounts a solid luxury seven-seat sport/ute on multiple levels, there is just one catch: the price. In our 2007 comparison, the MDX was by far the priciest and that has not changed. In fact, the MDX sticker has gone up by almost $1000 since its 2007 redesign." -- Motor Trend
