2009 Acura MDX Changes

The 2009 Acura MDX offers least changes as compared to its previous model. As its predecessors, the Acura MDX 2009 offers V6 power, 7 seater, and Acura's exclusive Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. Stylish and detailed design and engineering, comprehensive safety equipment and use of advanced technologies are special features of this luxury SUV.

Counting the changes in 2009 Acura MDX, it offers minimal changes. The remote-operated power tailgate was previously available only with the Entertainment Package. It is now included in the Technology and Sport packages too. The MDX is one of the few luxury SUVs in its class to achieve top safety ratings in both NHTSA and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The 2009 MDX provides excellent safety features including the application of Acura's Advanced Compatibility Engineering.

As before, the 2009 MDX is powered by a 3.7L V-6 with 300 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque on tap, mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The combination nets the MDX a fuel-economy rating of 15/20 mpg city/highway -- not exactly class-leading. The MDX is equipped with Acura's high-tech SH-AWD system, which is capable of sending as much as 100% of the total power to just one wheel. The MDX's handling prowess is due in large part to what Acura calls a "Nurburgring-tuned" four-wheel independent suspension with MacPherson struts up front and a multilink rear setup. Stopping power comes from 13-in. vented discs front and 13.2-in. solid discs rear sitting behind 18-in. wheels with four-wheel ABS and Brake Assist, an active safety system designed to apply full brake pressure more quickly in rapid braking situations.

There are 3 optional packages available on the MDX: Technology, Entertainment and Sport.

Technology Package: This package features a breath-taking 410-watt, 10-speaker Acura/ELS Surround Premium Sound System with 6-disc CD/DVD-Audio changer, DTS changer, AM/FM tuner, XM Satellite Radio and AUX jack connectivity. The advanced Acura/ ELS system delivers 6 discreet audio channels instead of the usual 2 channels, when playing DVD-Audio discs. The Technology Package also includes the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition and AcuraLink real-time traffic to display up-to-the-minute traffic information including freeway flow, accident, construction and weather related incidents in 77 major metropolitan areas-an increase of one new market (Dayton, Ohio) for 2009. Additionally, an 8-inch navigation screen shows a behind-the-vehicle image from a rearview camera when the transmission is placed in Reverse and a power-operated rear tailgate is now included. The Technology Package also offers AcuraLink satellite communication system for 2-way communication between Acura and the MDX. The Technology Package also includes a GPS-linked, solar-sensing Tri-Zone climate control system that automatically adjusts the temperature and fan speed according to the position of the sun.

Sport Package: This package includes all of the upgrades of the Technology Package. Additionally there is an Active Damper System that offers both Sport and Comfort settings to handle varying road conditions, an exclusive alloy wheel design and auto-leveling HID front headlights. The interior has luxurious perforated Milano premium leather seating surfaces and unique textured metallic accents on radio, cupholder and shifter trims are also included.

Entertainment Package: This package offers enhanced passenger comfort and convenience. Has a 9-inch flip-down Thin Film Transistor (TFT) color screen mounted in an overhead console to provide on-the-road entertainment for the second and third row passengers. The audio signal plays in Dolby Digital surround sound through speakers, two wireless Personal Surround headphones and three audio jacks. This package also includes a 110-volt AC power outlet within the center console along with second-row heated seats for outboard occupants.
